How to scan Pokémon cards for free with your phone

Scanning Pokémon cards with your phone is the fastest way to know what you have and what it's worth. Point the camera at a card and in under a second you know which card it is, its set and number, its language and its price. Here's how to do it for free and without limits with PriceSpot.

Step 1: install the scanner

Get PriceSpot on Google Play. It's free, needs no account and recognition runs on your phone, so photos never leave it.

Step 2: point at the card

Frame the whole card in good light and avoid glare on the holo. The app recognises it, reads the printed number (e.g. 025/165) to tell reprints apart and detects the language.

Step 3: check the price

You'll see its Cardmarket price: trend, lowest listing and history, per variant.

Lots of cards: burst mode

Turn on Burst and run your cards past the camera one after another without touching the screen. Each card is saved automatically and you see the running total. Doubtful ones are set aside for review.

From your gallery

Tap Gallery and pick several photos at once; one card per photo works best.
